Mr Steam It – Mucky Buggies service

When Mr Steam It contacted us here at buggyfit HQ offering his new service of hygenic steam cleaning for all Buggies and Pushairs, we knew we would not be the only ones that would jump at the chance for a buggy clean! Mr Steam It covers the Basingstoke area so when our Basingstoke buggyfit trainer Emma Perkins heard about this service she jumped at the chance to get her buggy clean.

The review:
‘Wow, what a difference Mr Steam It can make to muddy buggy that gets a lot of use, after 2 hours of cleaning it looked brand new.  The attention to detail was amazing, getting dirt out of every crevice and removing marks from the fabric that I thought were permanent.  All the products used were natural so no nasty chemicals to irritate my little ones skin.  This wasn’t a quick wash, more like a full valet.  I have been recommending the buggy cleaning service at my BuggyFit classes as a regular clean to this standard could really prolong the life of your buggy and keep it looking good’.

Graze.com boxes

Sitting at a desk for a large chunk of the working day is the norm for quite a lot of people and here at buggyfit HQ I get quite peckish during my office time. A few months ago I came across a company called Graze. A company that deliver a selection of healthy snacks straight through your door on a weekly basis, by Royal Mail so no waiting around for couriers. Perfect!

It is all run through their website, you have your own log in and you get to then choose from either a nibblebox or a nutritionbox. You then choose your delivery day, you get to rate all the foods so they know what you like and what you don’t. The price of boxes I have had over time range from £3.50 to £3.89 which I think is good value for the amount of seeds and nuts you get as well as the convenience element. The company also seem to run an awful lot of promotions so you are always able to get half price boxes or free boxes.

I love my box each week, in fact as I type now I am sat tucking into my nibblebox…minus a box of Olives who made their way into my other halfs bag this morning!

I would happily score Graze boxes a huge 5 out of 5, I couldn’t recommend them more!

The review:

‘Collectively 20 people sampled these bars and everyone found them to be tasteless. Two people said they would take them on a long bike ride purely for ‘nutrition in a bar’ purposes, but that other tastier bars would better.’

Overall the class scored the bars 2 out 5.

The bars were tried by Emma Redding, owner of buggyfit and her class members at her Thame buggyfit class.

Bundle Bean

With the colder winter weather setting in…brrr! We were after some warm and cosy items for all those buggyfit babies and we came across the BundleBean and were kindly sent one to review.

BundleBean is a cosy waterproof cover that fits snugly on to to all buggies, bike seats, rear facing car seats and front style baby carriers. It also opens out flat for use as a travel picnic rug or play mat making it the ultimate one-stop-shop solution for busy parents on the go!

BundleBean fits all ages and rolls up in to a neat bundle meaning it is always with you when the weather catches you out.

The review:

We really like the bundle bean, in particular, it’s been very handy to use when taking our daughter to & from the car in her stage 1 car seat in the wind & rain. We found we could fold the top bit up over her & use the elastic Velcro straps to attach it to the handle of the car seat, therefore sheltering her from the wind & rain but not causing a risk of suffocation, due to the straps being attached, so keeping the material away from her face.

We love the strap part & the zips/velcro tabs, as it means it doesn’t slip off like her blanket did when we tried to use that over her on the car seat. The waterproof backing is fab too as obviously using a blanket to shelter her from the rain, means it would get wet quite quickly & baby could get wet too.

It’s nice that its not too thick, meaning it can be used all year round – our daughter also doesn’t like the sun in her eyes, so we have used it as a sun shade in the same way as a windbreaker getting her to & from the car! In the colder weather we’ve been having, we’ve found we can still use it to transport our daughter to & from the car when she has a pram suit on over her clothes, and it’s easy to remove when in the car if its a longer journey where the car may get warm enough for her just to be in her pram suit, and Vice versa, she often won’t need a pram suit, as the bundle bean keeps her cosy enough when the weather isn’t too cold.

When you undo the zips, it’s big enough for at least 2 children to sit on as a blanket, so when the grass has been damp, we have used it as a mini picnic blanket with the waterproof side face down. Our baby has room to lie on it even when our 2 year old is sitting on it as well.

When using it on shopping trolleys, we also found it really useful, as the baby seats on the trolleys are hard plastic, so we put it on for our baby to lie on the fleece side to make her more comfortable, securing the straps to the side of the trolley. We found the bundle bean much easier to use underneath her rather than her blanket, as the straps keep it secure on the seat when we lay her on it, especially if there is only one of us with her. When we tried to do it with her blanket, it kept slipping down before we got a chance to put her on, as it was really hard to keep one hand on the blanket to stop it slipping while laying her on it at the same time.

All all, a great product, can’t think of any negatives about it at all! I would give it a score of 5 for ease of use (very easy, good photographic instructions), a score of 5 for the look of the product (nice bright colours), a 5 for versatility (easy to use lots of different ways) and a 5 for the packaging (not too much packaging, bag can be used again, card inside is informative enough for it not to need a big leaflet with detailed instructions for use). Overall a fab product, 5 out of 5! 5 out of 5 prams

Mountain Buggy +one

One of our buggyfit trainers was interested in reviewing the Mountain buggy +one as she had done her research on buggies and decided she wanted to purchase one in time for her first baby. Samantha got her buggy and put it through the paces and let us know her thoughts…

The review:

‘Like any new mother, the arrival of a new buggy is practically as exciting as getting a new car! So, when my Mountain Buggy +one arrived I was totally over excited and like a small child at Christmas, I ripped open the box and got it set up. Setting it up was pretty simple and with great instructions, I was able to assemble it without the help of my husband which is always a good sign!

The +one is an inline double buggy made for active mummies. At the moment, we have just the one baby, Emma, but when ordering the +one I was thinking ahead in the hope that one day in the not so distant future there might be another bundle of mischief to ride in tandem with Emma. Although slightly bigger than a single buggy, it works with ease, is light, narrow and moves as if it is a single buggy. When taking Buggyfit classes it manoeuvres brilliantly in the playing field and Emma loves it! There is loads of room in the tray at the bottom to store equipment and if you are just with one baby, you can store even more bits and pieces in the second seat. The wheels are sturdy and not too small, so deal with all lumps and bumps in fields and you can lock the front wheel. It also looks great which is always a bonus.

Both seats recline, so if it’s nap time both babies can sleep with no cramping issues. The material used is wipe clean and tough, so it should stand up to the recklessness of two toddlers!

I have given my Mummies a chance to have a go with it and they cannot believe how light it feels and how easy it is to use. The only thing that puts them off slightly is the price but when comparing it to other buggies of the same price, the +one is much more versatile and can be used with two babies until they are both at least three years old.’

Overall I would rate this 5 out of 5. 5 out of 5 prams

 The review:

‘They are useful for a multitude of chest and arm exercises, although all exercises could be replicated using the floor or a low bench. These are a great piece of equipment for people who wish to workout at home and suffer from wrist pain or issues, but not an essential piece of kit’

Overall I would score them 3 out of 5.

baby Mule Back Pack Baby Mule

We were lucky enough to get the lovely red and grey design sent to us to use and review so we sent it out to one of our buggyfit mums to use…

The review:

‘I love it!! It looks great, has loads of space and it is great to have separate compartments so that you can avoid having to rummage through a whole pile of stuff to get to what you’re looking for! I have a 2 1/2 year old, as well as a 12 week old and could fit all of our essentials in easily, including changes of clothes for both of them.
I like that it can be changed into a rucksack, it’s a great idea, especially if you are an outdoor minded person. The separate straps for attaching to the buggy are handy too and avoid the bag slipping down the handles, especially when they are in the upright position.
All in all, I can’t really fault it for practicality and versatility. The only thing that I would say is that it is probably a ‘going out for the whole day’ bag than a ‘trip to the shops’ bag due to it’s size, but for me it is perfect. Overall I would give it a 4 out of 5.’ 4 out of 5 prams

Child Locators

The lovely guys at Safe Girl Security sent us a couple of products to review. We have recently tried and tested the Mommy I’m Here! Child Locator Alert and wanted to share our experience and view of it….

The Mommy I’m Here! Child Locator is a revolutionary breakthrough, offering parents peace-of-mind. The Locator Alert is effective, reliable and very easy to use. Simply attach the teddy bear receiver to your child’s shoe or belt. If your child wanders out of a range approximately 25 feet, the new ALERT feature will cause the keychain transmitter to chirp loudly. Then, simply push the button on your keychain transmitter and the teddy bear chirps, alerting you of your child’s whereabouts, while drawing attention to any situation your child may be in.

Mommy I'm Here Child Locator with new alert feature

The review:

‘This is a great concept and you can not fault the problem it is trying to address. I am aware that I am a mum of one fairly compliant daughter and have not got three or four children under the age of 10 to keep my eye on, however I still feel it needs some work. For example the teddy shaped receiver is too much of a toy for little ones, my daughter was more interested in playing with it then having it stuck to her shoe, which then made it hard to track my daughter rather than the bench or slide it was left on! The plus side is it has a very loud alarm so can be heard when out and about in a loud and busy setting. It will also catch the child attention very quickly sending them back to you straight away, if not with a slightly confused face and questions! Unfortunately I am not sure I would spend the money on this gadget as I feel it is slightly more of hindrance then a helpful piece of kit at the moment.’ Overall I would give this product a 3 out of 5 for its concept alone.
